Kevin, thanks for posting this article. I'll be posting it on my blog - freedom from persecution is one of my themes.

to Jose, re Muslims not being allowed to pray in Cordoba Cathedral, the fact remains that it was once a mosque, and it is a cultural/historical site. if we can get Christians and Muslims praying together in the same space, that's one step on the road to peace. I would be for it. there's an Episcopal church in my town that shares worship space with a Reform synagogue. by your standards, this wouldn't be allowed, but the occasional joint services are really something to behold, and they are a great testimony to peace.

seems there are a few Pharisees on this blog who haven't really recovered.

Wow. Thank-you for posting this. It is tragic that we didn't get this from the mass media when they have made such an issue of business policies saying "Merry Christmas." Perhaps we should get these stories out more when the media doesn't.

The media has a job to do, and unfortunately, it often seems like their job is to only report half-facts, so they can slant things in the direction that best fits them. Recently the secular media did report on the execution of several Chinese Christians, but were quick to point out that these Christians were engaging in illegal activity. They made it sound like it was okay that these people were executed, like they deserved it. Very sad indeed.

Islamic countries routinely prevent both Christians and Moslems from praying in certain places (Hagia Sophia, for example) as well as Jews from other places (Saudia Arabia's Great Mosque). But, in truth, no one can stop anyone from secretly praying anywhere they chose, if they aren't doing external, physical actions.

Our News services also routinely ignore the plight of Christians in foreign countries. India is a place were we suffer at the hands of Hindus. Iran and Pakistan we suffer from Moslems, China the Communists are after us. The Christian community in the Middle East has be decimated (after surviving 2000 years) by the recent wars, including ours in Iraq. We need to pray for and help our brothers and sisters who suffer persecution.

What's the world turning into...

Regarding the story about the Spanish Muslims. I don't believe it is right for them to pray in a Christian Church, even though it was found that the Church was a former mosque. If they wish to pray properly, why can't they pray in the proper venue?
