I am ready now…
===========
From another song by another artist of another time…
I pledge my head to heaven for the gospel
And I ask no man on earth to meet my need
Like a Sparrow up above I am enveloped in His love.
And I’ll trust HIM like those little one’s He feeds.
Aren’t most surrendering songs about letting God know we are ready now to let Him do what He will? The problem though is that most of us never feel ready for surrendering. I think we finally get that when we are so freaked out with all we are facing. Rarely can or do we ask God to do in us till we’ve really seen that wicked part of us and that good in him. We don’t worship because we don’t get that we are ready as we are in the crappy state that we are in.
Someone asked what God gets out of a church “service”. Money? The offerering? I don’t think He needs that.
The prayers? He already knows them.
The sermon? Nope .. He wrote the book.
The announcements? I doubt it .. the congregation normally doesn’t even get much out of THEM.
Guess that leaves the praise and the worship.
Hmmm….
That says it, for me.
