  1. Three seeds often do pretty well…

  2. David Phillips should dominate the Lottie Moon Region. I’m just sayin’.

  3. Hey, this contest is rigged … Ryan Day is in there twice for the Billy Graham Region at both 6th and 8th seed!

  4. Do I have to move or anything to be in this?

  5. Wow, what a match-up. I’m honored. I’m against a counselor who knows OCD. I have OCD. Should be a fight.

How many of us in the field are not SBC?

  6. Ok, what’s the deal man? You put me in a region with the great Marty Duren? Man, I have no hope!

    :-)

  7. What? Can I vote for myself?

I’ll have to slip you special blend bag from Starbucks for putting me in with the weakest #1 seed. Nobody reads him… thanks Kev.

  8. Oh, Great … I’m in a category with both of the Rogers … in the Rogers region! It’s a conspiracy , I tell you!!!

I’m like Bob. Is there any physical activity involved in this? ;)

  9. Well, you know what the number 7 represents…

  10. I love it we’ve got trash talking.

    Scott,

    Ryan Day is AoG. :)

  11. I think the closest contest is the July 31st one between Bob and Paul, they are both active on the blogs, and just really smart … they are both definitely “now”. That one is going to be a squeaker of a vote I’m pretty sure.

  12. Geoff,

I love ya man but you’re going down.

    Les

  13. Hey, man. You are so creative.

Besides that, you put me on a one seed.

That’s awesome. It must be a conspiracy.

  14. There are some pretty heavy hitters in the Lottie Moon Region. I’m nervous.

  15. Tim Sweatman: No fair invoking scripture into this. :)

  16. “Underdog. I wince every time I say the word, especially in connection with Jesus. Yet as I read the birth stories about Jesus I cannot help but conclude that although the world may be tilted toward the rich and powerful, God, Halleluiah, is tilted toward the underdog.” (Phillip Yancey, perhaps most famously quoted in Audio Adrenaline’s song, “Underdog”)

Yeah baby. Higher seeds are going down. :)

  17. Les,

Is this the kickoff to your Smackk Church Conference initiative? ;)

Already talking a little of your smackk?

Anyhow … I know everyone is already going, “Geoff who?” And, “How did he get a 5-seed?”

  18. Besides, the one who helped introduce you to blogging gets on average 30 visits a day… stick a fork in me…

  19. I think your safe Joe. I for one, have no idea what I’m doing. Maybe if it’s triple elimination I’ll be able to wear somebody out!

  20. How did I get left out of the competition…

I got LEFT OUT, KEVIN…..do something about it! LOL

  21. We’re just taking it one game at a time.

    We’ll do our best.

We’re just happy to be here.

I think a lot of my opponent.

We have a real uphill climb.

I’m just here to have a good time and see what happens.

    :)

  22. Alan -

Whilst reading your comment, I thought for sure I was reading a Bryan Riley classic, did you hire him as a ghostwriter to help you win the contest?

    :)

  23. The last shall be first, and the first shall be last.

  24. Hey, didn’t you get the memo? I’m on vacation. I’m not posting anything in July. I’m not commenting on anything in July.

  25. I’m not even reading anything in July.

  26. Bart -

I guess that means Dwight has a pretty good chance of winning. But he doesn’t write a bunch of posts either, so maybe you still have a shot if you post something really controversial the day before the vote.

  27. Wait. Posting. Where is there posting listed?

I thought we were just voting on our coolness or the body of our work.

Holy smokes. I better get in training or something.

  28. Art –

The ESPN contest says it is based on “on-field success” and “off-field buzz”. In other words, since Kevin didn’t really clarify what he meant for his contest as to “who’s now”, it seems to me that has to do with what you are writing, if people are talking about that, or about you in general.

So sure, it has to do with your body of work, but it is not “who’s last year” it is “who’s now” so I assume it has to do with current work, not last years recitation of convention rules for instance. :)

I would say you are right to worry though. You are posting penguin scupltures … Bryan is posting about miraculous healings and people being saved by the droves. Whew! You sure pulled a tough competitor this time!

Of course I have to compete with the guy who designs blogs, so I figure I’m pretty much toast as there’ll probably be inside bribery running on that one (vote for David and he’ll make your blog cooler than anyone else’s … or something like that). :)

  29. Dorcas,

I’m hurt. Of course I wrote that. Kevin, I think that Dorcas should be penalized for being a meaney pants.

And, stop trying to make the rules. Geesh.

The contest is clearly about who has the best pictures of their kids at the beach and stuff.

But, again, I’m just happy to be here. :)

  30. I dunno… mine’s the prettiest. That’s gotta count for something.

Choose shiny over content! Choose Joe!

  31. Alan –

Hey, I’m just playing the game the way I learned it. Sometimes being a meany pants gets a lot of buzz around Blog Town. ;)

Oh, and as the resident attorney on Kevin’s blogroll (well until he switched up the categories recently), and co-author of the Blog Town sagas with Villa Rica, and member of the church of Baptist Blogger, I feel I am rather well qualified to make up … err … explain … err … Interpret the rules … thank you very much.

(How was that for getting in all the reasons I am Who’s Now!)

  32. Wow – I made it in. I hope a 6th seed can do some damage!

  33. Blessed to know I’m not forgotten even tho’ I rarely get to blog from here in Mindanao.

  34. Dear Kevin,

    What the…!

    With that, I am…

    Peter

  35. Umm….Kevin…why is Lumpkins in there? The obnoxious ones never get in?

Have you ever seen Dick Vitale in a bracket of any kind?

    With that I am…

    OBNOXIOUS BABY!!!!!!
