So what really makes someone between the ages of 13 and 24 happy? It’s not what most parents or even MTV might think. According to an extensive survey, spending time with family makes the young cohort happiest. Next was spending time with friends and then a significant other.
While parents worry over a sexualized culture, sex was one of the least mentioned things that make America’s young people most happy. Being sexually active actually leads to less happiness among 13-17 year olds, according to the survey. For those 18 to 24, sex might lead to more happiness in the moment, but not in general.

I didn’t need a poll to tell me this. Isn’t it interesting how the Bible addresses the real issues that make people happy?
What do you think?

This seems like something that should be obvious, but it’s not to so many people. In the 8 years I’ve been working with teenagers, I’ve learned that the involvement of parents – and especially of dads with their daughters – is so important. The girls who are the most messed up as teenagers are the ones whose fathers are totally absent or otherwise uninvolved. It’s sad.
TIA,
Great point. I agree totally.
I read that article, good stuff, plus it came from MTV not a church.

TIA- you’re 100% correect about girls needing a father, by which I mean a FATHER, not some tyrant who sires you, and then spends the rest of his life letting you know, by cruel words and physical violence – or just plain neglect – that he hates and resents your very existence. I lived in that environment for 25 years and wouldn’t wish it onto anyone. Shirley Phelps Roper had it infinitely worse than I did, poor woman. I know why she screams in public. If she cannot get love, at least she can gain attention.
