A Singaporean judge sentenced a man to four months in jail for stealing a Bible, admonishing him with Scripture before hauling him off to prison, The Straits Times newspaper reported Wednesday.

Stealing a Bible? Man, I’d be happy someone stole my Bible and read it!
What do you think?

This past summer, I spent two weeks in Germany and spent a couple of hours in the Gutenberg Museum in Mainz. There were several “Gutenberg” Bibles on display, in a secure room sealed in special cases protected by armed guards. I couldn’t help but feel that in this instance, God’s word had been reduced in value to a historical document — valued for all the wrong reasons.

It is weird that the Bible is one of the most stolen books ever. I used to wonder at that, and just recently talked to the manager of a local bookstore who cited a survey or study saying that most people that stole it did so in order to impress somebody else. I guess they wanted someone to think that they’re spiritual or religious. That almost makes it seem even more strange.

Long time faithful reader here, but this is my first post. Your statement “Stealing a Bible? Man, I’d be happy someone stole my Bible and read it!” has been my viewpoint for years.
Most people think I am nuts, but on Sundays when I leave the morning service I leave my vehicle unlocked (well, folks, you need to know that my little pickup is 12 years old and I live in a small town) and I leave my parallel bible in plain view. Doesn’t matter if I stop by the store or whatever, I do this. I have always hoped that when I came out to go home from the store or to go Sunday night services my bible would be gone and I would need to replace it.
Hm… come to think of it, my bible looks about as worn as my poor little pickup. Maybe I should buy a new bible to attract someone.

Many thanks for posting this, It?s simply what I was researching for on bing. I?d rather a lot comparatively hear opinions from an individual, slightly than an organization internet web page, that?s why I like blogs so significantly. Many thanks!
