Scary!

[CBS News]

Scout leaders are being ousted at a rate of 1 every two days because of molestation.

Tim Kosnoff, an attorney analyzed the numbers of child molestation in Scouts and came to this shocking conclusion: Before 1991, “a Scout leader was being tossed out for child molestation at the rate of one every three days,” he said. “Post-1991, the rate was one every two days.” That includes people suspected of abuse.

1 in 3 females online daters report first date sex.

Women who date online are likely to take precautions to protect their personal safety when first meeting a man face-to-face, but often are much less careful about protecting their sexual health once that encounter moves to the next level, a Houston-based study has found.

While the women who were surveyed went to great lengths to screen online acquaintances before meeting them, nearly a third reported having sex on the first date and three-quarters of those said they did not use condoms, according to the study by The University of Texas School of Public Health.

I admit I have a spiritual bias here.  Take that out I think even those without Jesus can see the dangers here.  I was in the Boy Scouts and I can’t believe that there are not more precautions taken to make sure that they have to kick out a leader every other day.  Wow! That is scary.  This is scary for Church leaders too.  If the Boy Scouts have those kind of sickos in their midst, I’ll bet churches have more than we would like to admit.

The second story is unbelievable.  How can people give away such an emotional part of themselves on a first date?  I admit I have a spiritual bias and think sex should be saved for marriage only.  But I would think even un-spiritual persons can see that sex is more than physical.

Man sues God…

14 07 2007

[IOL]

Bucharest – A Romanian man who sued God for “fraud” and “betrayal of trust” for failing to answer his prayers has had his case dismissed in court, a newspaper reported on Wednesday. Mircea Pavel, 40, who is serving 20 years in prison for murder, brought charges against “the defendant God, who lives in the heavens and is represented in Romania by the Orthodox Church,” the daily Evenimentul Zilei reported.

He accused God of “fraud, betrayal of trust, corruption and influence peddling.”

Hate Speech?

14 06 2007

[From The Washington Times]

The words “natural family,” “marriage” and “union of a man and a woman” can be punished as “hate speech” in government workplaces, according to a lawsuit that is being appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Huh? What’s next? Are we not going to be able to introduce our spouses as “husband” or “wife?” Will children be arrested for calling their female parent mom, mommy or mother? Will cops beat down the door when children refer to their male parent as dad, daddy or father? What can we call our children? Will we be required to call them “offspring?”

Does this mean that men can’t call their wives “the old ball and chain?” Can the term “trophy wife” be used? How about a wife referring to a husband as “Sugar Daddy?” Will terms like “gold-digger,” “cradle robber,” “sugar snookums,” “old man,” or “old woman” be added to the crime list?

How dumb is this nation becoming?

What other names will be outlawed? What do you think?

“Christian?” groups take battle to court

31 05 2007

[From Montgomery Advertiser]

Two well-known Alabama Christian groups are headed toward judgment — in Montgomery County Circuit Court. The former head of the Christian Coalition of Alabama calls the lawsuit filed against him by the current head of the organization “frivolous and baseless.” Dr. Randy Brinson, who now heads the organization, has filed suit against John Giles, who led the CCA for eight years and resigned last year. Giles was served with the complaint late Thursday.

Well, I guess they didn’t read the Bible that says in I Corinthians 6:1-2

If any of you has a dispute with another, dare he take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the saints? Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases?

How can this lawsuit glorify God? Please take the name Christian out of your name because this isn’t the way Jesus Christ would have responded. This is why politics and Jesus don’t mix.

Nativity without Jesus…

1 12 2006

[From Charleston Daily Mail]

Political Correctness at it’s worst. Why doesn’t the manger scene at the St. Albans Festival of Lights have a baby Jesus? There is a scene that looks remarkably like depictions of the night Jesus Christ was born. There’s a star, a couple of sheep, some camels and a structure that could be taken for the barn where Mary and Joseph had their baby. But no baby Jesus!

Read the story here.

[From me]

Let me get this straight. A government can call something Christmas, but it can’t have a baby Jesus. Isn’t Christmas the celebration of the birth of Jesus? Even Wikipedia defines Christmas as the celebration of the birth of Jesus. This is crazy.

Can you imagine having a birthday celebration for someone but they aren’t invited? You can’t have a nativity without Jesus. You can’t have Christmas without Jesus. What do you think?

Blame it on decaf!

16 08 2006

A Manhattan lawyer won $310,000 from Starbucks because of a cup of hot decaf spilled on her foot. The jury’s verdict was handed down in April and upheld yesterday by State Supreme Court Justice Emily Jane Goodman.

The 42-year-old attorney, Alice Grifffin, says she bought a large decaf on February 10, 2004 from a Starbucks on Seventh Avenue. She says the clerk did not put an insulating sleeve on the cup, and slid the coffee on the counter so it fell on her foot.  A neurologist who testified for Griffin said there was permanent damage to the nerve ending of her foot, causing “tingling, numbness” and made it difficult for her to wear the types of shoes she previously wore and interfered with her ballet dancing.  Read the story here.

Give me a break!  Why do we try to blame other people for our mistakes?  When they don’t give me a sleeve I ask for one and if they are out they double cup it.  If the Starbucks employee poured or spilled it on the lawyer then I could understand.

This better not cost my coffee to go up in price!

The problem is she shouldn’t have ordered a decaf!  Dorcas, I want you on retainer because I’m going for the big bucks!
