It’s not as famous as Grilled Cheesus or the Nun Bun, but the image a James Island woman found Friday on the back of a dead cownose ray may be one day.

“I just kind of thought it looked like a bearded homeless man,” said Erica Scheldt, 24. “But when I posted pictures on Instagram, one of my friends was like, ‘That’s Jesus.’ And I was like, ‘Oh my God! You’re right!’ ”

Matthew Murray, the gunman who is believed to have shot and killed four people in Colorado, appeared to have acted out of revenge against Christians, police officials indicated.

Authorities believe Murray, 24, posted an anti-Christian message online on Sunday – the day of the shootings – in a language almost identical to the text of a manifesto written by one of the Columbine killers, Eric Harris.

“You Christians brought this on yourselves,” Murray wrote, according to KUSA-TV in Denver. “Feel no remorse, no sense of shame, I don’t care if I live or die in the shoot-out. All I want to do is kill and injure as many of you … as I can especially Christians who are to blame for most of the problems in the world.”

Germany could be asked to ban the U.S.-based Church of Scientology under a Hamburg security official’s proposal that contends the group violates human rights. Hamburg’s secretary of the interior, Udo Nagel, plans to seek a nationwide ban of Scientology at this week’s meeting of top German security officials, spokeswoman Ulrike Sweden said Monday.

The German government considers Scientology a commercial enterprise that takes advantage of vulnerable people. During the summer, it initially refused to allow the producers of a movie starring Scientology member Tom Cruise as Germany’s most famous anti-Hitler plotter to film at the site where the hero was executed, although it did not expressly state Scientology as its reason.

Sounds like a prudent plan. Scientology is a cult. They worship themselves and their money. They encourage people to stay away from Psychology and the milk people of money. Maybe the US could follow Germany. No, our government has no guts to make the right decision and protect people from predators.

This was REALLY not kosher. A grocery store in Manhattan made a food faux pas, advertising hams as “Delicious for Chanukah.” Chanukah, an alternate spelling for Hanukkah, is the eight-day Jewish holiday that began Tuesday evening, and hams as well as pork and other products from pigs can’t be eaten under Jewish dietary laws.

Why don’t they have Chanukah Eastern Carolina BBQ? Maybe there is something to religious education…Ya think?

Dozens of local residents were sworn in Friday as naturalized U.S. citizens, but one of the new Americans insisted on taking a special oath, one that removed all references to God. Thomas Kaenzig says he left his native Switzerland because of religious persecution. He had to file a lawsuit in federal court to get the attention of immigration officials concerning the oath new citizens must take.

The oath asks new citizens to swear to God and a promise to bear arms. Kaenzig is a Raelian and doesn’t believe in God. He’s also a pacifist.

Federal officials agreed to change the oath to accommodate his beliefs. Kaenzig knows his decision will tick off a lot of people but he thinks it shouldn’t.

Why do we have to adjust for someone coming to our nation? Don’t we have enough kooks already? Why would we allow someone to become a citizen that believes a Swastika is OK? Who did his “special” oath swear to Spock?

A gunman opened fire in a training center dormitory for young Christian missionaries early Sunday after being told he couldn’t spend the night, killing two of the center’s staff members and wounding two others. No arrests had been made by afternoon.

There are reports of possibly two gunmen at New Life Church in northern Colorado Springs. According to police scanner traffic, police are at New Life Church in search of possibly two suspects, one who may have fired a gun. Police scanner traffic indicates multiple victims and that many people are hiding throughout the building. At least 1 victim transported himself to Penrose Main Hospital in Central Colorado Springs.

The Christmas carollers may have already been heard singing O Little Town of Bethlehem the length and breadth of the country. But it appears a huge chunk of their audience may have no idea why the town should be worthy of such reverence.

In an alarming survey published today into knowledge of the Christmas story, it appears that one in four adults do not know that Jesus was born in Bethlehem. Among younger Britons – between 18 and 24 – the total for those who could not give the correct location rose to 36 per cent.

This isn’t surprising.  I was sharing with a young boy a few years ago and I asked him what he knew about Jesus and he said he didn’t know anything about him–O, except what he had seen at Blockbuster.

Biloxi police were needed on two separate occasions Thursday to break up altercations at the normally quiet Buddhist temple on Oak Street.A political power struggle between the head monk and the former board of directors seems to have reached a boiling point.

“Several of the temple members are wanting the head monk to step down, but for what reason, we don’t know,” said police Sgt. Jackie Rhodes. “Basically, we just told them to go through their board of directors and that this was not the place to handle it.”
